About

SISSA SCICOM masterclasses stem from the long-lasting experience of SISSA and SISSA Medialab in training in science communication.

SISSA, the Scuola Internazionale Superiore di Studi Avanzati, is a centre of exellence for post-graduate training and research in Mathematics, Neuroscience and Physics. SISSA Interdisciplinary Laboratory for Advanced Studies (ILAS) investigates the relationship between science and humanities and for exactly 30 years has been running the Master’s course in science communication, which trains new generations of science communicators working in different fields. Alongside with this activity, ILAS, in collaboration with SISSA Communications office, manages courses in science communication, at the national and international level, aimed at specific target groups, from young to senior researchers, from health to environmental operators.

SISSA Medialab is an in-house company of SISSA working in several fields of the communication of science, inside and outside the scientific community. Through events, projects and exhibitions, it works with different audiences, from children to adults, from schoolteachers to museum educators. It manages and produces several scientific journals, including JHEP, JCAP, JSTAT, JINST, PoS, JCOM e JCOM América Latina. Since its creation, it offers training courses, at the national and international level, for researchers and science communicator professionals, such as teachers, facilitators and museum operators.
